The Panch Kedar Yatra is a pilgrimage to five sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand: Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar.
According to legend, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought forgiveness from Lord Shiva, who disguised himself as a bull and disappeared into the earth. His body parts appeared at five different locations, which are now revered as the Panch Kedar temples.
The ideal time is May to October, as the temples remain closed during winter due to heavy snowfall.
The yatra involves moderate to challenging treks. While Kedarnath and Tungnath are relatively easier, Rudranath and Madhyamaheshwar require longer and more strenuous trekking. Kalpeshwar is the easiest to reach.
A complete Panch Kedar Yatra typically takes 10–15 days, depending on your pace and mode of travel.
