Recognized as one of the world’s most sought-after trekking destinations, the grasslands stretch out to reveal the majestic Himalayan panorama, with the sun's rays illuminating the towering mountain ranges. The trek offers a series of endless wonders that will keep you enchanted throughout your journey. While Dayara Bugyal is captivating in summer, it transforms into a magical winter wonderland when the vast mountain ranges and green meadows are blanketed in snow.
On the first day of the trek, you'll embark on a scenic drive from Dehradun to Raithal, the base camp of the Dayara Bugyal trek. The journey takes about 9 to 10 hours, offering breathtaking views along the way. As you travel through beautiful forests, you'll also trek alongside the Bhagirathi River. The route passes through Uttarkashi, the highest town en route, before heading towards Batwari. As you approach Raithal, you'll be treated to stunning sunset views over Mt. Jaonli and Draupadi ka Danda Peak. Upon arrival in Raithal village, you'll check into your accommodation, followed by a brief introduction and orientation session with the trek leader and fellow travelers. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax and enjoy at your leisure.
Today, enjoy breakfast and thereafter proceed on your trek towards Gui from Raithal, witness the Mt. Srikanth & Gangotri. The trail ascends gradually, which takes you through the valley of fields. As you walk for about half an hour, you witness the flat grassy way. And the trail later become woody. You can take the forest route mainly of green and brown oaks & Rhododendrons. Evening enjoy acclimatization walk around the camp site, followed by some tea and local snacks.
The much-anticipated summit day has finally arrived! Today, you’ll trek to the highest point of the journey before returning to the campsite. The day begins with a walk through the forest, and soon the trail opens up into vast meadows.
As you continue, you'll find yourself trekking across green meadows adorned with colorful flowers. The breathtaking views of Bandarpoonch and surrounding peaks will captivate you, making the ascent feel effortless as you approach the summit. Along the way, you may come across a gently flowing stream. The final climb is steep, but the effort is well rewarded when you stand before the majestic Dodital range, with Bandarpoonch seemingly within arm’s reach.
From here, the trail leads you to Gidara Pass, which marks the divergence of paths toward Pichkiya and Gidara Bugyal. Take a moment to soak in the serenity of the landscape before retracing your steps back to the campsite.
This morning, enjoy breakfast at the campsite before descending back to Raithal and Depature.
Dayara Bugyal is a trek that can be enjoyed year-round, except during the monsoon season, making it accessible for nearly 8 months each year. Excluding the monsoons, the trek offers the opportunity to experience four distinct seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, each with its unique charm.
